A SNOI Studios Original Short Film

OUT is an approximately 35-minute psychological drama exploring the emotional reality of a teenage girl struggling with emerging symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder while living in an environment where her experiences are repeatedly misunderstood and invalidated.

Written, produced, and led by Nicole Aliseda and Nickey van Tooren, the film follows Dalia, a 17-year-old navigating overwhelming emotions, unstable relationships, and an increasingly fragile sense of identity. Through an intimate and character-driven perspective, OUT examines how mental health struggles can intensify when a young person feels unseen by the people closest to them.

The film was developed and produced by SNOI Studios LLC in Los Angeles under the SAG-AFTRA Short Project Agreement. Nicole Aliseda serves as the film’s writer, producer, and lead actress, overseeing the project from its initial concept and screenplay development through production, post-production, marketing, and festival strategy.

With OUT, SNOI Studios aims to create greater awareness and empathy around Borderline Personality Disorder and the importance of recognizing mental health symptoms in young people. Rather than reducing its protagonist to a diagnosis, the film focuses on the human being behind the symptoms—her relationships, her pain, and her need to be understood.

Currently in post-production, OUT is being prepared for submission to national and international film festivals.

Nicole Aliseda’s Role

As the creator of OUT, Nicole Aliseda holds a central and critical role in the production. In addition to originating and writing the story, she leads the film as Dalia and serves as one of its principal producers. Her responsibilities include creative development, production planning, casting and crew coordination, financing, SAG-AFTRA administration, post-production supervision, marketing, and festival preparation.

The project reflects Nicole’s commitment to developing socially meaningful, actor-driven stories through SNOI Studios and represents a significant step in her professional work as an actress, filmmaker, and creative producer.

Nickey van Tooren’s Role:

As the producer and director of OUT, Nickey van Tooren was in charge of running a smooth production built on creativity and trust. She was a major part of the creative development, as well as the marketing and the production, shaping the film's vision from its earliest stages while making the practical decisions that turned the script into a shootable plan. During production week, her role was vital for nurturing powerful performances and communicating with the team to create an aesthetic that felt cohesive from frame to frame, as she moved fluidly between guiding actors toward authentic performances and making moment-to-moment creative calls, while also keeping the production on schedule and anticipating problems before they became setbacks. Her involvement carried through to post-production and marketing as well, ensuring OUT's identity remained consistent from concept to the final cut.
